![]() ![]() Each time I went here though it was in the afternoon so I was never able to check out any music. There's writing all over every single thing from people who visited, including me. It's a pretty big place with a nice size stage and pool table. It used to be an old cotton warehouse. From the outside it looks nothing like a juke joint or restaurant. It's located next to the Delta Blues museum. What with the christmas lights every where and the cameras flashing it's always a party !!! And sometimes the crowd is overflowing into the streets, but thats okay, because the music is all over Blues Alley, and they're dancin in the streets!!!Boogie on!!! It's all good!!! And every body's snapping pictures. Sometimes off the dance floor too, just don't matter. (I'll be the one on cloud nine)!!! Oh, and there some real deal juke dancin' going on the dance floor. Gotta say that is the highlight of the visits. Freeman might stop by, I have personally indulged in photo op's with him on two different visits (see attached photo). They seem to know their business and have excellent inventory. The drinks are totally up to par, the bar tenders have not batted an eye at mixing any drink we've requested. Puttin' is a lovely man and I hope to see him in April. Been doing the cards for probably seventy years. ![]() He loves to demonstrate card tricks (not opposed to making a buck or two) he is very good. Puttin' was their spokes person for the PBS specials and is known world wide. We are recognized by Puttin' when we walk in the door and invited to sit at HIS table. The folks working there have always been courteous and attentive even when the place is packed and really rockin which is usually the case during the show times. Made lots of good friends from all over the world the times we've been there and have stayed in contact with most of them. Sort of our home a thousand miles away from home. we already have confirmed reservations with airlines, car rental and motel ! We have been back at least once and up to three times each year since the first visit. There is just no better place to hear great, authentic Delta Blues except a blues festival and Ground Zero does the best of those too! Juke Joint Festival!!! in April of 2008. Point is, you can count on great music, great fun, and we have NEVER witnessed negative behavior in the entire town. I wish!!! Oh yes, Super Chik'an !!! can't forget him!!! Homemade Jamz Blues Band, too. We have seen Pinetop Perkins, Honey Boy Edwards, Big George Brock, Bobby Rush, and others just as notable, Kenny Brown, Burnside, just on and on and obviously we have missed so many since we can't be there all the time. ![]() The times we have been there they have always featured up and coming artists but many of the BIG long time legendary icons, as well. Okay I must admit it is not our favorite place to dine but we didn't go there to eat. We have always loved blues music and we had visited that area many times in the past so we decided to do Ground Zero. We heard about ground Zero on a PBS ducumentary just after the club opened. ![]()
